Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost?

Our rental rates start at $30/ hr.  Special rates are available for day long or multi-day rentals.  Most people rent our machines for 2 hours.  This is typically enough time to explore most of what you want to see!

What is a Segway?

The Segway is a specially designed two wheeled vehicle.  It utilizes patented self-balancing technology to keep the rider upright at all times.

How old do I have to be?

Per Washington, DC law all riders must be at least 16 years of age.  Any riders under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during their rental.   There is no maximum age, but you should be able to walk up and down stairs without assistance in order to be able to ride a Segway.

Can I lock up my Segway during the rental?

Yes!  All of our Segways are equipped with locks so that you can park them outside of monuments, museums, restaurant, or pretty much wherever you would like.  Since you can't ride Segways inside of most places this lets you take your Segway where you want to explore and then if need be proceed by foot.

Is there a weight limit?

The Segway's recommended weight is from 100-260 lbs (45-120 kg).   If you are within those limits you'll have no problems.  If you are just outside of the limits we might still be able to accommodate you, just call and ask!

Do Segways work in the rain?

Yes!  Segway's can handle rain no problem.  We're more than happy to rent you Segways, even during inclement weather.  Watch out for big puddles though, if the Segway base gets completely submerged it could stop working.

Do I have to wear a helmet?

Yes!  All riders are required to wear a helmet whenever they are on a Segway.  We provide helmets for you, but if you have your own helmet that you would rather wear that's fine too.

What should I wear?

Dress comfortably for the weather.  You'll be riding the Segway outside so wear what would be comfortable wearing while standing outside for a while.  If its cooler out gloves are highly recommended.  Keep in mind that it normally feels 5-10 degrees cooler while riding on a Segway with the wind in your face.  Flat, comfortable shoes are also recommended.   Flip flops or sandals or fine, but sneakers are definitely the best option.

What is your cancellation policy?

We do not offer cancellations, buying a ticket reserves your spot and we have a limited number of Segways. Please let us know if you would like to change and we would be happy to move you to another available time slot.
